Photographing Pearl Harbor

I had a great experience on assignment in Pearl Harbor a couple of weeks ago. Such an inspirational place to photograph. It was really a great honor to memorialize the USS Arizona, museums, aircraft and USS BOWFIN. The museum and Ford Island complex is truly a shrine to the incredible bravery of the men and women stationed there. Very sacred ground indeed.

You cannot imagine the impact you feel seeing droplets of oil and oxygen rising to the surface as you stand over the hull of the USS Arizona, which sank almost 60 years ago. Still over 1000 sailors are entombed there. It is a unbelievable sensory experience.

The museum is filled with stories, photos and artifacts of that terrible day. Something I will never forget. I would highly recommend a tour next time you are in Oahu.

Stay tuned more images on the way!!

Below are some of the shots from the assignment. Enjoy!!
